Dimensions: 4'10" x 6'6" (147 cm x 198 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique circa 1940 Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a dramatic charcoal field, ivory borders, and a softly faded camel and pale blue diamond medallion. Its hand-knotted geometric ornament, stepped contours, and finely patterned guard borders create the distinctive graphic character prized in vintage Shiraz rugs. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or entryway.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, charcoal, camel, taupe, pale blue, olive, sand, and ebony, with a charcoal field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
