Dimensions: 4'6" x 7'0" (137 cm x 213 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Hamadan rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a boldly geometric ivory medallion composition set against a warm taupe-brown field. Its hand-knotted wool pile showcases stepped corner forms, hooked motifs, powder blue accents, and a richly articulated tribal border with visible tonal variation. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Muted neutral tones of taupe, ivory, brown, powder blue, camel, charcoal, and cream, with a taupe field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
