Dimensions: 4'3" x 7'3" (130 cm x 221 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Shiraz rug is a hand-knotted Persian tribal weaving with a striking sequence of four ivory stepped medallions across a richly variegated teal-blue field. Its graphic geometric borders, small floral rosettes, and softly timeworn palette give the wool-pile design exceptional collector character and decorative versatility. An ideal accent for a hallway, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of teal blue, ivory, blush, charcoal, slate blue, dark brown, sage, and rose, with a teal blue field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
