This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1920, is a hand-knotted Persian tribal weaving with a softly weathered ivory and blue gray field framed by richly geometric borders. Its elongated diamond medallion encloses stepped latch-hook forms, small rosettes, and four angular compartment motifs, creating a finely detailed, collector-friendly village design. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, blue gray, taupe, brown, charcoal, sage, and ochre, with a blue gray field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
