Antique Afshar Area Rug (4' x 6')
Dimensions: 4'6" x 6'9" (137 cm x 206 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Afshar rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving distinguished by its bold stepped medallion chain and softly timeworn palette. The composition pairs an airy sky-blue field with ivory and sand-toned geometric motifs, framed by narrow guard borders and stylized tribal elements that showcase the graphic clarity collectors prize in Persian village rugs. Its hand-knotted character and faded, decorative presence make it an ideal centerpiece for a bedroom, living room, or office.
Faded cool tones of ivory, sky blue, sand, taupe, slate, and brown, with a blue field.

Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
