Dimensions: 4'4" x 6'9" (132 cm x 206 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Hamadan rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a striking geometric medallion composition and richly articulated border system. Its hand-knotted wool pile presents a softly aged palette of ivory, slate blue, charcoal, and terracotta, with angular tribal motifs that reward close study. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, slate blue, charcoal, terracotta, taupe, ebony, rust, and sage, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
