This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving distinguished by its bold stepped medallion and finely drawn geometric motifs. Its softly faded ivory field, taupe-brown contours, and pale blue accents create a nuanced, collector-friendly palette that showcases the character of hand-knotted craftsmanship and age-earned patina. A versatile decorative piece with strong tribal presence, it is especially well-suited for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, brown, pale blue, camel, and charcoal, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
