Dimensions: 4'9" x 6'9" (145 cm x 206 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a finely drawn geometric prayer-panel composition. Its softly faded taupe, ivory, and blue gray palette frames a dramatic stepped central lozenge, stylized floral devices, and richly patterned guard borders. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, blue gray, charcoal, brown, sage, and beige, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
