This antique circa 1940 Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a softly weathered taupe field and a vertical chain of geometric medallions. Its finely drawn ivory, charcoal, and muted blue gray motifs, stepped outlines, and narrow geometric border create an understated, collector-friendly tribal presence. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, charcoal, blue gray, brown, and slate, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
