This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a softly faded ivory and taupe palette. Its hand-knotted wool pile carries a geometric stepped lozenge field, petite repeating motifs, and bold corner ornaments framed by multiple graphic borders. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, charcoal, brown, camel, and ebony, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
