This antique circa 1920 Afshar rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving distinguished by a large ivory-outlined lozenge field filled with precise star and floral latticework. Its warm terracotta ground, soft blue accents, golden details, and richly layered geometric borders showcase the refined visual rhythm of hand-knotted Afshar design. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of terracotta, ivory, muted blue, gold, rust, sage, charcoal, and camel, with a terracotta field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
