Dimensions: 3'3" x 7'6" (99 cm x 229 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Caucasian rug, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal runner distinguished by three bold hooked hexagonal medallions set against a softly weathered charcoal field. Its precise geometric drawing, ivory starburst motifs, rust accents, and richly patterned borders showcase the graphic artistry of Caucasian weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or living room.
Faded neutral tones of charcoal, ivory, rust, taupe, dark brown, camel, and black, with a charcoal field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
