Circa: 1910.
This antique Baktiary runner, woven in Persia circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece distinguished by its richly articulated all-over lattice of geometric floral motifs and elongated compartment-like forms. The dark field is enlivened with ivory, camel, rust, and soft blue accents, while the crisp border framing and finely drawn patterning showcase the character of hand-knotted craftsmanship and age-earned patina. An ideal statement rug for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.
Muted warm tones of brown, ivory, camel, slate, rust, gold, charcoal, and sky blue, with a brown field.
The Baktiary is a tribe located in western Iran. They produce colorful geometric rugs often with a compartment design filled with stylized floral motifs or bold medallions. The village rugs are woven on a cotton foundation with the nomadic pieces on a woolen foundation.
