This vintage Northwest Persian rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind runner with a striking architectural medallion composition framed by intricate floral borders. Its ivory field, rust-toned spandrels, and deep brown central panel create a richly layered traditional design, showcasing fine hand-knotted detail and strong decorative contrast. Northwest Persian is a regional designation covering the broad arc of carpet-producing areas in Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and the surrounding provinces of northwestern Iran — including Heriz, Serapi, Bakhshayesh, Karaje, and the many Kurdish and Shahsavan tribal weaving groups of the region.
