This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving distinguished by its luminous sky-blue field and richly drawn all-over pattern. Hand-knotted with collector-friendly character, it features a dense arrangement of geometric and stylized botanical motifs framed by a warm camel-toned border, giving the piece both visual intricacy and time-softened elegance. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, camel, ivory, taupe, brown, slate, gold, and charcoal, with a blue field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
