Dimensions: 3'9" x 5'2" (114 cm x 157 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a finely drawn ivory stepped field, slate blue spandrels, and an intricate lattice of geometric rosettes. Its hand-knotted wool pile and richly articulated guard borders showcase the graphic, collectible character of southern Persian village design. An ideal accent for an entryway, hallway, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, slate blue, taupe, brown, charcoal, camel, rust, and cream, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
