Antique NW Persian Runner Rug (4' x 11')
Dimensions: 4'1" x 11'0" (124 cm x 335 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Northwest Persian runner, circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with a striking tribal geometric design and a richly patterned field framed by multiple borders. Its rust-red ground, ivory guard panels, and deep indigo accents create strong visual contrast, while the finely repeated motifs and hand-knotted construction give it the character and precision collectors prize in early Persian village weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.
Muted warm tones of rust, ivory, indigo, navy, terra cotta, camel, and charcoal, with a rust field.

Northwest Persian is a regional designation covering the broad arc of carpet-producing areas in Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and the surrounding provinces of northwestern Iran — including Heriz, Serapi, Bakhshayesh, Karaje, and the many Kurdish and Shahsavan tribal weaving groups of the region. The area has been one of the most prolific and important sources of antique carpets in the world.
Northwest Persian rugs share a family resemblance: bold geometric or semi-geometric designs, strong natural dye palettes, and robust construction on wool or cotton foundations. The range of quality and style is enormous — from grand Serapi palace carpets to humble village runners — but all share a vitality and directness that makes them perennially compelling.
