Dimensions: 3'9" x 9'2" (114 cm x 279 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Shirvan runner, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Caucasian rug distinguished by its crisp all-over lattice of geometric guls and richly articulated tribal borders. The saturated navy field, ivory-ground motifs, and rust-toned guard borders create striking contrast, while the hand-knotted construction and age-softened patina give the piece exceptional character and collector appeal. A refined statement for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.
Muted warm tones of navy, ivory, rust, brick, camel, slate, and crimson, with a navy field.
Shirvan is a central eastern Caucasian region producing fine rugs. They are usually small in size and use geometric patterns with stylized animal motifs. Designs may have prayer, medallion and all over formats.
