This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a striking sky-blue field and crisp geometric latticework. Its hand-knotted design features an ivory-centered medallion, angular tribal motifs, and a beautifully aged palette of ivory, taupe, and brown that gives the piece refined decorative character. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, ivory, taupe, brown, camel, and charcoal, with a blue field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
