Dimensions: 3'7" x 4'5" (109 cm x 135 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This antique Afshar rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving with a beautifully drawn all-over botanical design set against an ivory field. Its angular floral motifs, soft abrash, and finely articulated border create a refined yet rustic composition in muted peach, sage, camel, and sky blue tones that collectors prize in Persian village rugs. A versatile accent rug well-suited for an entryway, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, camel, taupe, sage, peach, sky blue, brown, and olive, with a ivory field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
