This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1940, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian village weaving with a softly faded camel field framed by angular borders in aqua, ivory, and rose. Its stepped lozenge medallion encloses an orderly lattice of small floral motifs, giving the piece a refined geometric character and the timeworn patina collectors prize in vintage room settings. An ideal accent for a bedroom, entryway, or office.
Faded warm tones of camel, ivory, aqua, rose, taupe, and sand, with a camel field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
