This vintage Bidjar runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with an elegant all-over Herati-style field and a finely drawn geometric border. Its softly faded palette of dusty rose, ivory, taupe, and muted blue gives the hand-knotted design a refined, timeworn character that reads beautifully in both traditional and transitional interiors. An ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or long office space.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, dusty rose, ivory, muted blue, brown, and charcoal, with a taupe field.
Bidjar is a Kurdish town in northwestern Iran, renowned for producing what are often called the "iron rugs of Persia" — the heaviest, most densely woven and structurally rigid pile rugs in the world. The distinctive construction technique, in which the weft threads are hammered tightly into place during weaving, creates an almost board-like stiffness and an exceptionally dense pile that wears virtually indefinitely.
Bidjar designs include elaborate herati patterns, large floral medallions, and the distinctive "garden" or vase carpet format. Their palette tends toward deep jewel tones — rich madder reds, indigos, and ivory. Bidjar rugs are ideal for high-traffic areas and are among the most durable of all Oriental rugs.
