Antique Malayer Area Rug (7' x 16')
Dimensions: 7'6" x 16'3" (229 cm x 495 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Malayer rug, woven in Persia circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind runner distinguished by its finely drawn all-over Herati-style pattern and richly layered border system. The deep navy field is enlivened with rust, ivory, and soft blue accents, creating a dense, rhythmic composition with the collector appeal of an early 20th-century village weaving. Its intricate hand-knotted design and elongated 7' x 16' format make it an exceptional choice for a hallway, gallery-like passage, or long living room.
Muted warm tones of navy, rust, ivory, brick, slate blue, rose, and charcoal, with a navy field.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
Malayer designs tend toward the geometric, with herati, mahi (fish), and stylized floral patterns rendered in a traditional palette of deep indigo, madder red, and ivory. Their precise drawing, durable construction, and handsome proportions make antique Malayer rugs a consistently sought-after choice for collectors and decorators alike.
