This antique circa 1920 Shiraz rug from Persia is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving with a richly articulated rust field, pale blue-gray stepped medallions, and intricate geometric ornament. Its densely drawn latticework, small tribal devices, and multiple angular borders create exceptional visual movement and collector appeal. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or office.
Faded warm tones of rust, pale blue gray, ivory, charcoal, terracotta, camel, ebony, and sienna, with a rust field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
