Circa: 1940.
This handmade one-of-a-kind antique Shiraz rug from Persia, circa 1940, showcases a striking tribal composition with a stepped central medallion, angular corner spandrels, and finely drawn geometric motifs. Its faded ivory and charcoal palette gives the hand-knotted field a beautifully time-softened character, while the bold border and graphic symmetry lend strong decorative presence. An ideal accent for a bedroom, office, or entryway.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, charcoal, taupe, gray, and cream, with a ivory field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
