This handmade, one-of-a-kind antique Afshar rug showcases a striking tribal composition with bold geometric drawing and a stepped central medallion set against a softly faded blue field. Angular motifs, terracotta borders, and finely articulated guard bands give the piece strong visual rhythm and collector appeal, while its time-softened palette enhances its authenticity and decorative versatility. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of blue, terra cotta, ivory, rust, camel, and taupe, with a blue field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
