Dimensions: 3'2" x 4'10" (97 cm x 147 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Shiraz rug is a hand-knotted Persian tribal weaving with a finely detailed geometric field, stepped ivory medallion, and richly articulated borders. Its softened slate blue, rust, ivory, and charcoal palette frames an array of small diamond, rosette, and latch-hook motifs, giving the wool pile a collected, timeworn character. An ideal accent for an entryway, hallway, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of slate blue, rust, ivory, charcoal, taupe, terracotta, and camel, with a slate blue field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
