This antique circa 1930 Persian Sarouk rug is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind wool pile weaving with an ivory field, finely drawn floral arabesques, and a delicate central medallion. Soft teal, taupe, and dark brown details lend the formal Persian design an unusually airy, refined character, framed by multiple narrow floral borders. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, dark brown, teal, blue gray, charcoal, and cream, with a ivory field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
