This antique Persian Sarouk rug, circa 1920, is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind carpet distinguished by an ivory field of finely drawn floral palmettes, scrolling vines, and softly colored rose medallion forms. Its refined taupe, dusty rose, teal, and terracotta palette is framed by layered botanical borders, showcasing the detailed wool-pile craftsmanship prized in early 20th-century Sarouk weaving. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, dusty rose, teal, terracotta, sage, brown, and charcoal, with a ivory field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
