This antique Persian Sarouk rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind carpet distinguished by its softly aged terracotta field and intricate all-over floral arabesques. Its hand-knotted wool pile is framed by a broad, highly ornamented border in powder blue, ivory, charcoal, and rust, creating a richly layered traditional composition. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of terracotta, powder blue, ivory, rust, charcoal, sage, coral, and taupe, with a terracotta field.
Sarouk is a village in western Iran north of Arak, famed for its 1920’s-1930’s floral rugs. They have both medallions and all over designs and are woven with asymmetric knotting on a cotton foundation. They often have a rich burgundy color as well as rose and rust grounds.
