Dimensions: 4'5" x 6'7" (135 cm x 201 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Shiraz rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a softly timeworn palette and a striking vertical medallion composition. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through the nuanced, faded field, geometric tribal drawing, and layered border details that give the piece depth, texture, and collector appeal. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of ivory, taupe, rust, brown, camel, and charcoal, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
