Dimensions: 5'3" x 6'7" (160 cm x 201 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This handmade one-of-a-kind antique Afshar rug, woven circa 1930, showcases a striking tribal composition with stacked geometric medallions set against a luminous sky-blue field. Its finely articulated border work, angular drawing, and softly aged palette of ivory, rust, and pale blue give it the distinctive character collectors prize in Persian tribal weavings. A versatile decorative piece with strong visual presence, it is especially well-suited for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded cool tones of sky blue, ivory, rust, blush, taupe, camel, and brown, with a blue field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
