Dimensions: 4'0" x 6'0" (122 cm x 183 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Afshar rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind tribal weaving with a striking geometric medallion composition and softly timeworn character. Its faded camel field and blue-green motifs, framed by a narrow border, showcase the bold graphic language and artisanal irregularity collectors prize in Persian village rugs. A distinctive accent piece for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded warm tones of camel, teal, taupe, ivory, sage, and brown, with a camel field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
