Dimensions: 3'0" x 9'10" (91 cm x 300 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Bibikabad runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with a finely articulated geometric field in soft blue gray, ivory, and warm rust. Its hand-knotted wool pile presents repeating hooked medallions, angular rosettes, and detailed guard borders with a beautifully time-softened palette. An ideal accent for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Faded neutral tones of blue gray, ivory, rust, taupe, charcoal, terracotta, brown, and sage, with a blue gray field.
Bibikabad rugs are woven in a village in the Hamadan district of northwest Iran. They share many characteristics with other Hamadan-area rugs — single-wefted construction, cotton foundation, geometric designs — but are distinguished by their bold, spacious compositions and their unusually strong palette. Large-scale herati and medallion patterns are common, rendered with a directness that gives these village rugs considerable decorative presence.
Their robust construction and vibrant color make them excellent working rugs for high-traffic spaces, while their graphic quality appeals to collectors and designers looking for character-filled antique pieces.
