Mazlaghan is a village in the Hamadan district of northwest Iran, producing rugs closely related to other Hamadan-area village work — single-wefted, cotton-foundation, symmetrically knotted — but distinguished by their particularly bold and graphic medallion designs and strong palette. Large central medallions on open red or blue fields, with bold corner pieces and a characteristic vine-and-flower border, are typical.
Their directness and strong color make them excellent decorative rugs with substantial presence, particularly in rooms that benefit from clear, confident pattern.
