This handmade one-of-a-kind antique Shiraz rug from Persia, circa 1940, showcases a striking tribal composition with a stepped lozenge medallion chain set against a warm terra cotta field and framed by cool blue corner spandrels. Its hand-knotted character is expressed through crisp geometric motifs, a finely drawn border, and beautifully aged, softly faded color that gives the piece depth and collector appeal. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, bedroom, or office.

Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs.
