Cactus Silk kilims are handcrafted by female artisans in Morocco using agave (sabra) fiber — sometimes called "vegetable silk" — rather than wool or cotton. The resulting textile has a distinctive luminous sheen and a supple, almost liquid drape quite unlike any other flat-woven rug.
Weavers use a flat-woven background as a canvas and add simple yet bold tribal designs — geometric stars, diamonds, and zigzag stripes — in vivid, saturated colors. Each piece is unique and finished by hand. Their reflective quality and rich color make them striking as wall hangings, table runners, or floor coverings in contemporary spaces.
