Dimensions: 3'5" x 11'8" (104 cm x 356 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Karabagh runner, hand-knotted circa 1910, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Caucasian piece distinguished by its elongated format and finely drawn all-over geometric pattern. The dark field is enlivened by ivory, rust, and small sky-blue accents within a crisp border system, giving the rug strong graphic presence and collector-friendly character. Its narrow proportions make it an ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or along a kitchen run.
Muted warm tones of rust, ivory, charcoal, sky_blue, taupe, and camel, with a charcoal field.
Karabagh rugs are made in the south eastern Caucasus close to the Kazak district bordering North Eastern Iran. They have varied designs. Some derive from the classical 18th Century carpets, such as the large medallion format, and some are more formal French influence, related to the Aubusson and Savonnerie styles with their more realistic drawing. They are more often woven on a woolen foundation.
