Kurd Bidjar rugs are woven by Kurdish weavers in and around the Bidjar district of northwestern Iran, combining the bold tribal energy of Kurdish design with the exceptionally dense construction characteristic of Bidjar work. Like all Bidjars, they are heavily wefted and structurally rigid — often called the "iron rugs of Persia" — but their designs are bolder and more geometric than the more formal city Bidjars.
Common patterns include large geometric medallions, herati fields, and bold border compositions in deep reds, blues, and ivory. Their extraordinary durability and strong graphic character make them excellent choices for high-traffic spaces and for those seeking a rug that will age beautifully.
