This antique circa 1920 Malayer runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian rug with a striking elongated format and finely drawn all-over tribal-floral patterning. The deep navy field is enlivened by rust-red borders, ivory accents, and geometric boteh and stylized plant motifs that showcase crisp hand-knotted craftsmanship and strong decorative rhythm. Its narrow proportions make it an ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.

Malayer rugs are woven in and around the town of Malayer in western Iran, within the greater Hamadan district. Comprising over a hundred villages each with its own subtle design traditions, the Malayer region produces hand-knotted rugs on a cotton foundation using the symmetrical Turkish knot — finer and more tightly woven than most Hamadan work.
