This antique Shiraz runner, circa 1930, is a hand-knotted Persian tribal rug with a richly patterned dark brown field and a procession of ivory and rust geometric medallions. Its finely articulated animal, floral, and latch-hook motifs are framed by intricate ivory borders, creating a compelling balance of nomadic character and formal symmetry. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or kitchen.
Muted warm tones of dark brown, ivory, rust, terra cotta, charcoal, olive, camel, and gold, with a dark brown field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs.
