Dimensions: 3'2" x 13'4" (97 cm x 406 cm).
Circa: 1910.
This antique Caucasian runner, circa 1910, is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind weaving with a richly articulated procession of hooked geometric medallions across a deep indigo field. Its ivory border is animated by stylized rosettes and angular floral forms in rust, coral, teal, and charcoal, creating the crisp color contrast and tribal precision prized in Caucasian rugs. An ideal centerpiece for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living room.
Muted warm tones of indigo, ivory, rust, coral, teal, charcoal, terracotta, and sage, with a indigo field.
Caucasian rugs have a stronger palette with geometric designs. Longer piled rugs are woven in the highlands and the shorter piled finer rugs in the lowlands. The Caucasus is the area bordered by the Black Sea on the left and the Caspian Sea to the right. The Caucasus mountains border the region from the northwest diagonally to the southwest. Rugs are usually woven on an all wool foundation or with wool warps and cotton wefts, occasionally mixed.
