This vintage Karabagh runner is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece that showcases the refined Caucasian weaving tradition in an elongated gallery format. Its richly detailed all-over design features repeating geometric floral motifs across a deep navy field, framed by multiple guard borders in rust, ivory, and blue for a layered, collector-friendly look. Hand-knotted with striking visual rhythm and strong decorative presence, it is an ideal choice for a hallway, entryway, or long corridor.
Muted warm tones of navy, rust, ivory, crimson, slate, rose, camel, and charcoal, with a navy field.
Karabagh rugs are made in the south eastern Caucasus close to the Kazak district bordering North Eastern Iran. They have varied designs. Some derive from the classical 18th Century carpets, such as the large medallion format, and some are more formal French influence, related to the Aubusson and Savonnerie styles with their more realistic drawing. They are more often woven on a woolen foundation.
