Circa: 1930.
This antique circa 1930 Shiraz rug is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian tribal weaving with a finely drawn all-over lattice of hooked diamonds, rosettes, and angular floral motifs. Its softly weathered taupe, ivory, and charcoal palette is framed by multiple geometric borders, giving the hand-knotted wool pile a nuanced, collector-friendly patina. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or bedroom.
Faded neutral tones of taupe, ivory, charcoal, brown, gray, cream, and ebony, with a taupe field.
Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs. One of the most well known tribes in the area are the Qashqai.
