This antique Sparta rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind long runner with a striking all-over tribal design rooted in Anatolian weaving tradition. Its deep charcoal-brown field is enlivened by angular boteh and stylized floral motifs, framed by a finely drawn border in rust, ivory, and slate tones that showcase crisp hand-knotted craftsmanship and beautiful age-softened character. A sophisticated choice for a hallway, entryway, or narrow living space.

Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
