Dimensions: 6'5" x 12'5" (196 cm x 378 cm).
Circa: 1940.
This antique circa 1940 Kars rug is a hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind Turkish weaving with a softly weathered taupe field, paired architectural medallions, and crisp turquoise outlines. Its geometric tribal drawing is framed by an ivory border scattered with small floral and angular motifs in turquoise, blush, and vivid fuchsia, creating a distinctive balance of restrained earth tones and lively color. An ideal centerpiece for a living room, dining area, or bedroom.
Faded warm tones of taupe, ivory, camel, turquoise, fuchsia, peach, tan, and brown, with a taupe field.
Kars is the provincial capital in the far northeastern part of Turkey formerly under Russian control. They have a strong Caucasian influence in design giving a primitive look. The use of natural dyes and undyed natural wool gives them a contemporary elegance suitable for both casual and country decors.
