This handmade one-of-a-kind antique Shiraz rug from Persia, circa 1930, presents a softly aged palette and a richly drawn traditional composition that speaks to early 20th-century craftsmanship. Its hand-knotted floral design features layered medallion forms, a detailed border, and beautifully faded tones of taupe, ivory, charcoal, and rust that give the piece exceptional depth and collector appeal. Shiraz is the capital city of Fars province in south western Iran and is major collection center for the regions tribal and village rugs. They are woven on a wool foundation with an asymmetrical knot, usually with medallions on a densely covered field of geometric and animal motifs.
