Dimensions: 6'8" x 9'5" (203 cm x 287 cm).
Circa: 1930.
This antique Sparta rug, circa 1930, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece with an elegant all-over floral design rooted in Greek weaving tradition. Its softly faded ivory field and rose-toned border are enriched with finely drawn vinery and palmettes, giving the rug a refined decorative presence and a beautifully time-softened character. A versatile statement piece for a living room, bedroom, or dining area.
Faded warm tones of ivory, rose, blush, taupe, and dusty pink, with a ivory field.
Sparta rugs are woven in the town of Isparta in south west Turkey. They produce rugs that are curvilinear in design with scrolling arabesques, leaves and flowers, usually in a softer palette and more often with central medallions and open fields but also use all over patterns. They are woven on a cotton foundation with an all wool pile.
