Circa: 1920.
This antique Hamadan rug, circa 1920, is a handmade, one-of-a-kind Persian runner with a beautifully drawn lattice design and richly expressive tribal character. Its ivory field is enlivened by repeating geometric floral motifs and a bold border in coral, navy, and teal, while the aged wool pile and visible abrash lend depth, texture, and collector-worthy patina. A versatile accent for a hallway, entryway, or beside a bed.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, taupe, navy, coral, brown, teal, and charcoal, with a ivory field.
Hamadan is a Kurdish city in north western Iran famed for its rug production. Numerous villages around the city produce rugs with their own design elements, all under the name Hamadan. They are woven on a cotton foundation, and are single wefted.
