Dimensions: 4'3" x 6'0" (130 cm x 183 cm).
Circa: 1920.
This handmade, one-of-a-kind antique Afshar rug from Persia, circa 1920, showcases a striking tribal geometric design with stacked medallions set against a softly faded light blue field. Its intricate border, angular motifs, and beautifully time-softened palette of ivory, camel, and rust give it the character collectors prize in early 20th-century village weavings. An ideal accent for a living room, bedroom, or office.
Faded neutral tones of ivory, light blue, camel, rust, taupe, and brown, with a light blue field.
Afshar is a tribal group of people located in Southwest Iran, the Caucasian mountains, and Turkey. Most Afshari rugs are produced in village workshops in Southwest Iran. They are woven mostly on wool in a squarish format. The design usually features three center medallions surrounded by small geometric motifs where the use of botehs in the design is common.
